Remember the film and its maker
Attach names to works without letting a famous collaborator replace the requested credit.
Keep the role explicit
Director, producer, screenwriter, and actor are different credits. Some people hold several roles, but that does not allow one credit to prove another.
When a prompt asks for a director of a nominated film, think of a title first and retrieve its directing credit. That route is often clearer than searching for a celebrated filmmaker with an uncertain connection.
Handle shared credits
A film may have more than one credited director. Sources may also record uncredited work. Our source snapshot can list multiple directors, so a question is about an accepted recorded connection rather than a claim of sole authorship.
Use full names when possible. Common surnames can be ambiguous and should not automatically match every person who shares them. Only explicitly reviewed aliases are accepted.
Make a small web
Write three films around one filmmaker and verify each link. Then connect one of those titles to another useful attribute, such as a release decade.
Avoid turning this exercise into a promise about score. A name’s place in your personal film knowledge says little about how familiar it feels to someone with a different viewing history.
